Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club of Raleigh North Carolina
The Raleigh Buffalo Soldiers joined with event organizer Victor Company to ride in their First Annual Juneteenth Parade in Downtown Raleigh.
Before the creation of the Raleigh Fire Department the city of Raleigh’s fire protection came from volunteer firefighters. One of the longest serving was the all-black Victor Company, organized in 1869 as Fire Company No.1. They were named the “Victors” for winning a hand-engine contest in 1870 at the N.C. State Fair and officially changed their name to Victor Company. Today Victor Company is composed of local firefighters of color focused on community service and brotherhood/sisterhood in Raleigh..
Raleigh Buffalo Soldiers join with many other Buffalo Soldier chapters in supporting the Wendell Scott Foundation first-ever charity ride through Danville, VA. Wendell Scott was an American pioneer who as a stock car racer broke racial barriers as the first African-American to win a NASCAR Grand National Series race. He competed at the highest level in NASCAR' over 13 years with 20 top five and 147 top ten finishes that earned him induction into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. All without any corporate sponsorships.
The ride highlighted his legacy on the eve of what would have been his 101st birthday. The ride generated $2300 for charity and the National Association of Buffalo Soldiers and Troopers Motorcycle Club honored him with a plaque and additional $1,000 charity donation.
Raleigh Buffalo Soldiers joined with Good Hope Ministries Baptist Church for an afternoon of food, music, games, and a Trunk or Treat.
